Having your child care provider run through an agency can give you the peace of mind while you’re at work knowing the day home is following the regulations set by the Alberta Government. The agency's day home visitor will ensure the regulations are being followed by doing monthly visits.
Quality child care means that the caregiver is well trained and enjoys children. The children’s play environment should be child centred with developmentally appropriate activities for each child in care. The play centres should enhance the child as a “whole” to make sure to meet their needs, socially, physically, intellectually, creatively and emotionally.
My name is Rhonda and I have been an Early Childhood Educator since I graduated from Grande Prairie Regional College in 1998 with my diploma in Early Childhood Development (level 3). Shortly after I graduated from college I moved back to my home town in Northern BC where I obtained my Early Childhood Educator's Licence in BC. I worked at a day care there for 10 years until I moved to Lethbridge last spring due to my fiancé’s work. Last June I started working at Wee R Kids Family Day Homes as a home visitor. This position required me to go into the day homes and ensure the provider and homes were meeting the expectations of the Alberta government policies. I have missed working with the children in a more hands on basis so I have decided to leave the agency and open my own day home.
